Description

Another episode! And it was recorded right as Faiqa and Mike were getting over nasty colds that make our voices sound all throaty and our throats sound all voicey. (No, I don’t know what that means either. But there’s a good deal of Sudafed in my system right now making me a bit loopy, so let’s just go with it.

Our condolences go to Faiqa’s father-in-law who passed away last week. Our thoughts are with her family. Faiqa opens up about the experience — explaining what happens when someone Muslim dies. And Mike recalls the passing of his mother years before, and how a Jewish family experiences the funeral and mourning periods. These are the types of things many people don’t learn about growing up in traditional households or educational institutions. So both of our discoveries and stories were quite powerful.

We’d love to hear about your experiences and traditions surrounding death and mourning. Please let us know your thoughts on our Facebook Page or on Twitter: @thatsmyhummus. Also be sure to get on iTunes and rate and review us!

Our podcast today is brought to you by our Amazon page (just click the banner!) and Zipcar. Use our link to sign up (http://www.joinzipcar.com/hummus) for a $25 credit!

Oh — and a heads up to Zencastr, a new recording platform we’ve started using which makes remote podcasting and post-producing much easier. Hopefully it sounds just as good (if not better!)
